Sullivan Town Board approves firefighter gear, sewer study

NY SULLIVAN — Sullivan Town Board backs updated firefighter turnout gear and sewer study results. The board unanimously authorized purchase of 10 sets of Lion B-Force turnout gear for North Chittenango firefighters at approximately $38,000-$39,000, combining a $20,000 capital allocation approved in December with current-year budget funds; Highway Superintendent Andrew Busa said updated National Fire Protection Association standards now require interior firefighters to maintain two gear sets simultaneously. The board also voted unanimously to retain Barton & Loguidice Engineering for Environmental Protection Agency sewer inspection assistance at $8,200.
Engineer Ken Knutsen reported survey results from the proposed Lakeport Road sewer district showing 51 percent support for public sewers among respondents, declining to 41 percent when presented with estimated monthly costs of $90-$100.
