Sullivan enacts 12-month data center moratorium

NY SULLIVAN — Sullivan Town Board unanimously approves 12-month data center moratorium. Supervisor Thomas G. Daviau and the five-member board enacted Local Law No. 6-2026 following a public hearing on cryptocurrency mining and commercial data processing facilities.
The moratorium, classified as a Type II environmental action, gives the town time to study zoning implications and develop appropriate regulations. The board also unanimously approved a Special Events permit for the Mitchell Tenpenny concert July 31 at The Haven of the Wild, with expected attendance of up to 2,500 people, and approved a $1,200 Court Department budget modification. During a separate public discussion, Damon Point residents challenged the recent LED streetlight conversion, citing excessive brightness and requesting lower-wattage fixtures and shielding.
