Sullivan Town Board enacts revised Flood Damage Prevention law

NY SULLIVAN — Sullivan Town Board enacts revised Flood Damage Prevention law and authorizes data-center moratorium hearing. The Board voted unanimously to adopt Local Law No. 5-2026, transferring floodplain administration from the Planning Board to Code Enforcement Officer, while adding new definitions and anchoring requirements for structures in flood-hazard areas. The Board also unanimously authorized a July 1 public hearing on a proposed twelve-month moratorium on cryptocurrency mining operations and data processing centers, citing concerns about energy and water consumption.
The Board approved Recreation Supervisor Chris Lowe's 1,125-dollar attendance at the November NYSRPS conference in Buffalo.
